OVERVIEW
My time @ Lyft
I had the incredible opportunity to intern at the NYC HQ at Lyft this summer. I had an amazing time getting to work with my team on Driver Growth, and continuing to expand my skills as a product designer. My project specifically aimed to show the value of Lyft Rewards to drivers through a curation of designed experiences. My work is currently under NDA, so please reach out to me for more details.
What I learned 🤔:
Understand your Project Scope
Make sure you understand the project scope. My project felt really large in the beginning based on what I was reading. I wasn’t completely sure where my designs could or couldn’t be implemented. I ended up creating my own doc, breaking down the project further so that I could understand the problem in my own words. The more I continued to research and learn, the better I became at narrowing down on the project scope and identifying core problems. Ask questions!!
Prioritizing Feedback
Take feedback selectively. Given the short timeline I had to work on this project, I had to prioritize feedback. Understanding that some feedback could be included in future improvements, and that some feedback needed to be implemented immediately. I learned that it comes to a point where you have to make the decision and stick to it.
Document your Work!
Documenting your work is key. Being able to access written feedback, past progress, and designs allowed me to work more efficiently, and minimize time spent digging around or trying to remember information.
